Position Summary
Police Officers perform a full range of law enforcement duties involving crime prevention, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, community engagement, and emergency response.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Patrol assigned areas by vehicle, bicycle, or foot
· Respond to calls for service and emergencies
· Investigate criminal offenses and collect evidence
· Prepare reports and court documentation
· Serve warrants and make lawful arrests
· Conduct traffic enforcement and community policing activities
Minimum Qualifications
· At least 21 years of age
· United States citizen
· Current Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Certification
· High school diploma or GED
· Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $67,000 - $83,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The Town of Middleburg offers a comprehensive benefits package including participation in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), health insurance, life and disability insurance, paid leave, educational incentives for advanced degree attainment, tuition reimbursement, and professional development opportunities to support career growth and advancement.
Selection Process
Candidates will undergo an application review, background interview, comprehensive background investigation, fingerprinting, driving record review, credit review, pre-employment medical examination, and drug screening.
Scheduling Requirements
Sworn personnel must be available to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back situations.
